Infant Mary’s Minor Seminary

Infant Mary’s Minor Seminary (I.M.M.S.) is the first Seminary in the Malankara Catholic Church established by H.Ex. Yacob Mar Theophilos, the first Bishop of Thiruvalla. The blessing of the Infant Mary’s Minor Seminary was conducted on 8th September 1931 by Mar James Kalasserry, the Bishop of Changanachery. Iinitially, it was located in the present campus of the Cathedral. The seminarians from Trivandrum were also trained here in Tiruvalla until the opening of the seminary there in 1934. As the number of students increased, it was moved to Cherupushapagiri with the Bishop’s House in 1935, and later to Marygiri, where it now remains. It is one of the rare seminaries, which exists along side the Bishop’s House.  I.M.M.S has gifted 8 Bishops and around 269 Priests to the Church for the last 9 decades since its inception.

Sneha Bhavan

Sneha Bhavan (Home of Love) in Puthenangady, an old age Home for aged women was founded by His Grace Dr. Thomas Mar Koorilos on 6th January 2011 in loving Memory of First Bishop of Archdiocese of Tiruvalla, H. E. Jacob Mar Theophilos,. It was started under the stewardship of Rev. Fr. Philip Valliyakavunkal, who took great initiatives and efforts in its early stages, also served as the first Director of Sneha Bhavan. It has been literally a home for 69 aged women for the last one decade. Presently, there are 17 inmates and 11 Staff members. The activities and day-to-day operations are supervised by a priest, who is assisted by Holy Spirit sisters.

As the name sounds, Sneha Bhavan is a loving home for those aged mothers who find their shelter under the roof of this house. They consider it as their own home during this late stage of their life that they are living. The inmates do support each other emotionally by sharing their griefs and sorrows that they had to through in their personal lives. Rev. Director and Sisters make a perfect and conducive atmosphere for their healthy well-being.
All the expenses related with Food, Medicine and Clothes are met by the Archdiocese as well as those willing to donate. The services rendered are considered as a responsibility for the Archdiocese and at the same time this is also a fulfillment our commitment to the society in a larger perspective.
